In fact, you may find that my blog now looks differently with it was a month ago.
, because I had difficulties to manage this blog at the beginning.

 “No!No!No!…I can’t think!!”“No!No!No!…I can’t write”

It’s mainly because that English is not my first language,
so I cannot write as good as you guys.
And I just feel like I am asked to write at least one essay once a week on this blog,
it made me so stressful. So I did not have any love for doing this.

I was suffering…..…..”the taste of the life is bitter…..”

Until………………..

I noticed that personal style is one important concern for blogging,

“I see the hope….”

 

I started to realize that

I do not need to learn to be William Shakespeare 

or

 someone writes well.

I just need to be myself. “Me is me, noone else”

 

Then,I started to re-manage this blg in a new way…..

I love to use expressions in my emails
and times when I have online conversations with my friends on MSN messager.

It is because I think
using animated-expressions is a good way to express personal feelings,
because animated-expression can deliver emotional messages more than text can do.
And the animated-expressions look cute and funny.
I love them. 

So I then decided to use expression to write my posts.
And as the result, I am enjoying now……and I try to keep improving it.

In fact, I  asked two weeks leave from my work since last week,

because ….

I have to concentrate on doing my assignments.

But……..

 I still got calls from my boss to ask me back to work…

that made me feeling very stressful….

Just realized that one of the students,JingChen, actually had done many documentary projects related to immigrants in Australia already. Her projects definitely are great examples for me.

As she mentioned, her projects had been showing on screen through Chinese TV station networks in China. And I found the topics she had covered are actually things I thought I would cover in my project ……from this, I guess we might have similar thoughts on things.

Besides, through her projects, it tells me why a topic “Asian immigrants” is too broad…as there are many issues are involved, and each issue itself is big enough to be a project topic to be discussed.

 I just realized that a topic, like “immigrant woman” is still too broad…and in fact, it is not a good topic for a community….as community is a group of people, who share same belief , are involved in activities regularly ..etc. and I think “RELATIONSHIP” is the key thing about the community.

so I think my cell group is still a good example for community..as we share same belief, values and are involved in activities regularly(weekly cell group metting and Sunday service)..and we are related to each other as the family in Christ.

Besides, all of our cell group members are all immigrants or international students from Asian.  Even people from my church are all Chinese…… we have a similar cultural background.

mm…. just do it!

• if you are an immigrant, you may want to have a look at the Australian governmental website-”Department of Immigration and Citizenship“- It provides brief introduction about life in Australia and useful information regards settle in Australia for all new arrivals, including skilled migrants, family migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants. Information are divided into sections and are conveyed to audiences in a step by step manner, which i think is very easy understood and educational.
• if you are woman, you may want to know about the associations that are dealing immigrant woman issues , such as “Immigrant woman’s speakour association” and “Immigrant woman’s support service” . -These two websites cover the issues immigrant woman are concerning about and the problems they are having and provide the solutions and ways to gain help from professions. Projects and events for immigrant woman are also listed to educate the community members how to build and protect the community.

From above websites, you may notice that “the lack of language ability” is one of the key factors that make immigrants to have a difficult living in Australia. And immigrant woman is a community that needs more protections and cares, as they have weak strength in Australian society, which isn English spoken and male-dominated society.

 ”Australia is a multicultural society but one which is male-dominated  and has structural inequalities which perpetuate the disadvantages  experienced by certain groups of people.”quoted from IWSS.

“Women of non-English speaking backgrounds can be amongst the most disadvantaged in society: through experiencing a double power imbalance  as women in a male-dominated society and as members of the non-dominant cultural group. “  quoted from IWSS.

However, after research, I think I would focus on the community “immigrant woman” and maybe have a topic like “immigrant woman at workplace” for the project to discuss the difficulty immigrant woman may encounter at workplace, , their lifestyle and values.

The reason I choose this topic is mainly because  I am belong to this community ,so I would like to discover more on this topic. And it is also because I think it would be good if I could actually share some useful resource for people who may need to know about the ways to gain help through my project.

 Sean just reminds me that I should define the focus of my project clear, a topic like “Asian immigrant” is too board, it might not be able to attract people’s interests. I think he is right, as this issue means differently to different people. It might mean much to an oversea student, as oversea students may share similar experience with immigrants, but it might mean nothing to a local who never have any oversea friend as it has nothing to do with his life.

  oh……..

anyone have any good suggestion for me??what issues would you want to know about Asian immigrant? the following is my project brief, which shows the basic ideas of what I am going to discuss in the project, please leave me your comment about it…tell me whether you think they are interesting topics or not.  My plan for the project is to discuss my focus issues through having interviews with people from different groups, including, ABC -2nd generation immigrants,  first generation immigrants, future immigrants, people never plan to immigrate, local residents in Australia, people who are doing jobs associating with the immigrant law)

Issues I would focus on:
-the motivations to immigrate
-the issues about the belonging and nationality
-how the cultural differences and language barrier effect the immigrants’ life.
-ideas effect people’s thinking of immigrant and nationality- global village.
-how the law effect the immigrant

In order to define the communities i am belong to…I first analyze myself, including race, gender, career , interests, lifestyle and belief…and then I defined myself into numerous communities, such as Chinese, students, immigrants, Christians, graphic designer and Internet addictor.

Even though I was thinking to talk about my church group members for the TS project at the start of the semester, but since I saw many NEWS related to immigrant issues are shown on the media recently, I decided to change the topic to “Asian immigrants”, as it is impacting to the society worldwide nowadays and it is a cultural valued issue, so I think this topic could draw out more discussions.

“The impacts that new media would bring to old media “ is always be a hot issue in media industry.
Maybe some may argue  that old media would lose their audiences when a new media could offer more attractions(interactivities) for audiences. And some may argue that new media does not suit for everyone, because not everyone can enjoy reading small text on website or palm, people still prefer to read in the traditional way, for example : press printing.
However, I personal think the integration of media would make the story to have a happy ending. A good example is how the TV programs use new media to enhance their interactivity.
In TW, each TV program has a website or blog. Websites and blogs are used as communication channels to gather feedbacks from viewers, and at the same are used as tools for building up the audiences’ loyalty.

As we all know, in the past, TV is a one-way presentation, TV hosts can never know how audiences think of their shows, unless they gather information through phone interviews. But now, TV hosts can use blogs or websites to gather feedbacks from audiences and promote their upcoming shows online. Some programs even release their last shows online for audience to download for free.

Hence, it is believed that the new media may make more positive impacts to old media, as new media can help the old media to break the limitation and enhance the old media’s ability as mentioned above.

from there, I just realized  that there are uncountable functional blogs around the world, and they provide rich updated information to viewers in a organized way.  nice job~!

they are really amazing ….and it made me feeling I should study more…otherwise I will get lost in the information highway very soon……so dizzying..

 Since last week, I started to work 3 days a week at a printing company. My main job is to do the graphic design for clients and communicate with the staffs in China for my boss.( the company produces their most of printing works in China to save the cost of goods)……

my colleagues are all friendly and are willing to help me..And I am actually learning something everyday I go to work .I think I am lucky to have this job.

the company is just on the Lygon st…the printing cost is cheap…..If you need any printing, you may try there….
